What is the FSSAI / Food License ?

This license is a basic step for obtaining permission for starting a food business in India. Every eligible food operator is required to take before string any food business in India.

What if you don't have FSSAI License ?

The Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 lays down punishment and consequences for non-obtaining of license/registration under FSSAI. According to section 63, if any person dealing in food items (Food Business Operator) doesn’t register or obtains a license under FSSAI shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months and also with a fine which may extend to five lakh rupees.

Documents required for New FSSAI Central License

Here is the list if all required documents.

List of Food Business falling under the purview of Central Licensing Authority

• Dairy units
• Vegetable oil processing units and units producing vegetable oil by the process of solvent extraction and refineries including oil expeller unit.
• All slaughter houses .
• Meat processing units.
• All food processing units other than mentioned under (I) to (IV) including re labellers and re-packers.
• 100 % Export Oriented Units.
• Importers importing food items including food ingredients and any of the product comes under food category.
• All FBO's manufacturing any article of food containing ingredients or substances or using technologies or processes or combination.
• FBO operating in more than one state.
• Food catering services  like Railways, Air and airport, Seaport, Defense etc.

What is FSSAI License Central Consultant ?

FSSAI License Central Consultant is an FSSAI agent or consultant who may help FBO in getting a Food License without any hassles. He will consult you, direct you and help you in documentation process of getting an FSSAI Licence.

FBO's can apply for an FSSAI Central License from FSSAI License Central Consultant in their particular region.

For eg :- Company "Fooder" is an FBO and It is the manufacturer. Fooder's annual turnovers are over 20 crores and  it is operating its business in Mumbai Region. Then Fooder has to apply FSSAI Central License for the Mumbai region.Fooder's can apply for License from the website of FSSAI or can apply for it through FSSAI License Central Consultant in Mumbai Region.
